Hi. Just want to say you are playing GREAT music!!
I am a partially retired DJ. Played fifties and sixties in the same club for 18 years.
I still play for wedding receptions and private parties, etc.
As a DJ myself, I know comments are appreciated when they come from their peers.
So Keep up the great work!

Hi Norman,
Thank you for your kind support!
You are absolutely right. Your words of appreciation do a world of good!
Just as all the e-mail I get from ordinary listeners does. It's amazing how much Goodwill I get just from running this station.
I have had some fears webcasting would be done for when Congress held a hearing about internet broadcasting and the hight of the Royalty fees. Live365 now has announced that they will pay the royalty fees out of their advertising income and an affordable rate for us broadcasters.
So I'm happy to say we will stay on!
In fact I will expand and add lots of new songs in the months to come. Further more I am in the process of updating my website with some content and charts of the fifties and sixties. I will inform you when it's done.
Being a professional DJ you will certainly have some tips for songs.
Please feel free to inform me. Perhaps you even could make a promotional jingle for Doo Wop Jukebox Gold?
Please keep in touch.
Bye.
GM

I am having trouble using the web site. My speech software does not work
well with the web. Can you send me a link that will play your music. Vinnie
|
|
Hi Vinnie.
In answer to your question I'm honored to send you the appropriate links to my stations.
I presume you would want to listen to Doo Wop Jukebox Gold for the worlds finest doo wop. If so then click here.
If you want to listen to any other station then visiting http://www.whatsup.myweb.nl might help playing them.
The reason why my station might not play however could be that you are behind a firewall or proxy server that has these functions disabled. Also when a device like your sound card is already in use by an other application (like your speech software) chances are that it will not play streaming audio unless it is freed. Java script must be enabled in your browser.
If these matters are not the case it could be that the Live 365 player is not correctly installed.
Therefore I have included the next line which will work with your default player such as winamp, real player or Microsoft media player when installed. Just click (NO LONGER VALID) http://www.live365.com/play/164360
Unfortunately Live365 has recently enabled dynamic Ip addressing and turned off the possibility to connect through a IP address.
Hope this will solve the problem and thank you for listening.

I think your station is fantastic, i have not heard one of my all time favorites, Your My Inspiration i think it was by the Five Keys but not sure. If you have it i would sure like to hear it again, Thank you, CJ.

Hi,
Thank you for your kind words.
With regard to your question I think the song you mean is not by the Five Keys but probably by the Teardrops or the Inspirations and is called "My Inspiration".
I don't think you mean "You're My Soul and Inspiration" do You?
Take a look at http://www.allmusic.com, type "My Inspiration" at the search box and you will find that this song can be found on the albums "Brooklyn's Doo-Wop Sound, Vol. 3" and "Explosive Doo Wops, Vol. 5"
If you are sure about the "Five Keys" as performers then here is a list of all their songs and you can see if it's perhaps called "You're the one", "You're For Me" or "My Love" I don't know. Thanks for Listening!

Howdy,Thank you So Very Much for your station. It pleasures me more than you can know. Your effort is truly Appreciated !!!
If you have time, I have a question regarding one of the tunes on the playlist.
I have spent mucho time searching CDDB, Amazon, Google, CDNow, etc to try and find the specific Album the tune is on, but alas no luck.
The Live365 player shows the tune as (if I recall correctly):
This is the Night (for love)
The Valiants
History of Rock
If you could tell me the specific album the tune is on, I would be most grateful.
And thanks again for the best darn playlist on 'Net radio.

Hi, Great To Meet You Also. Yes, You've Taking Me Back In Time, Back To Be Exact 1953, When I First Started Listening To A Couple Of Black Radio Stations, Out Of Oakland And San Francisco, One Of Them Was KSAN, Can't Remember The Call Letters Of The Other One Though.
What I Really Started To Write You For Was A Title Of A Song That I Heard On One Of The Two Stations I Mentioned. I Tape Recorded It Back In 54 - 55. I Still have The Tapes, But I Never Wrote The Title Down, And I've Tried To Find It..... It's Been So Many Years, Those Tapes Are Now Impossible To Play. Sure Wish I Would Have Re-recorded Them. There Was Not Much To The Song, But It's One I Can't Get Out of My Mind. Most of The Lyrics Are "Ride Jockey Ride, Ride Jockey Ride." And That's All I Can Remember. If You Can Help This Young Old Man It Sure Would Be Appreciated.
Thank you,
Bob Castaneda

Hi Bob! How great it is to read your e-mail. I'm glad that I bring so much joy to so many people with my Doo Wop Jukebox Gold station. The memories.. the great music... that's what we are doing it all for and no matter how many times I hear those songs I still love them! With certain songs you can close your eyes and be right back at that magic moment in time....those who say a time machine has not been invented yet are wrong! It's Doo Wop Jukebox Gold!
Your question about a 1954-1956 song where most of the lyrics are "Ride Jockey Ride, Ride Jockey Ride." doesn't ring a bell. It sounds more like a yell used in the song rather then the title. Or is it Ride DJ Ride?? Never-the-less I have looked into it and found some "near matches" at http://www.allmusic.com like the "Jockey Ride Blues" by Big Joe Williams - but that recording is of 1961. An other option is The "Jockey Blues" by different artist - but that song originated in the thirties. Best possible version of that one is by "Big Joe (again a Big Joe) Turner" or the version on the "Mercury Blues 'n' Rhythm Story 1945-55 Album. Visit Allmusic.com to search for more information. As a last resort you can try to find it on the peer to peer mp3 music browsers where millions of people are online. Let me know when- ever you find it.
Bye.

Vic - Possible error Wed, 13 Feb 2002 21:18 EST

Hello papaoommowwow: My name is Vic and I really enjoy the music you play on your Live365 station.
I believe that there is an error in your playlist. The song you have listed as "Harmony of Love" by the Five Dollars is not the song that is actually played on your station. I really like the song, and I would like to know the true song title and artist.
If my suspicion proves to be correct, I would really appreciate it if you could send me the correct title and artist and revise the information on your playlist. Thank you for your time, Vic
