Hey! Thank you for al lthe info, this is really cool!
I was using "Itunes" to listen, but now will use the real player for this station, I
have to also have the internet up for the live listing, which is a really neat feature.
(unless there is another way). Thank you also for the music reference. I have a bunch more, but won't bog you down with them. some songs I haven't heard on your site, so you may or may not know of them.. Anyway,s thanks and keep up the great work on the station!
It's about time someone had a great Doo Wop station . too many "oldies" stations are
stuck on that motown and other not so fun to listen to music. Thanks,-Brendon V

Brendon V - Doo Wop music Tue, 25 Mar 2003 12:03 EST

Hi: I really enjoy listening to most of the Doo Wop music on the 365 webstreaming.
I was wondering where I could buy some of the music I hear on there. there are many
songs I have, but the ones I want are, of course, the ones I have not been able to
locate. One song I like a lot (and I hear it regularly on your station) is a song I believe
called "Pretty Pretty Girl" I could swear it is by Johnny Maestro, around 1961.
However, nobody can seem to confirm this. There are several more, but of course, I have no idea of their song title or who sang them. This makes it hard to figure out. this is why I was wondering if you had certain compilation discs, etc.. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, and rock on! -Brendon V

Hi Brendon, Thanks for listening to Doo-Wop Jukebox Gold! The Song you refer to is "Pretty Pretty Girl" by the Timetones recorded on the Atco label back in 1961. If you are listening through a relay or third party player you might want to listen
using the live365 player. This player provides you with the actual real time info on
every record played. It has a buy button next to each song that links you to amazon.com straight away. (You might have to redefine your search there since I've listed the actual original recordings as much as possible and these often produce a "not found" error).
You can go to http://www.live365.com to get the player. You can also use our free retro jukebox & old time radio skins which will do the same for Real Player. In order to find songs or more recent albums I can highly recommend www.allmusic.com as a reference guide. I'm sorry but we do not issue playlists or cd's. Have fun!

Hello, This is a brief note to tell you about an audio service to help you formulate your unique image for Doo-Wop Jukebox Gold. Audiobag.com produces radio sweepers and we deliver them right to your e-mail box. We utilize the Internet for easy online ordering. Our turnaround time is approximately 24 hours and we deliver the sweepers to your e-mail box as MP3 audio files. After you've placed an order online with us, there is a short form you fill out that asks for your instructions (i.e. your copy, male or female voice, style of delivery, and whether you need a few seconds of silence at the beginning and end of each sweeper). I invite you to browse over to Audiobag.com (http://www.audiobag.com) and listen to the demos. I'd love to put together an imaging package for Doo-Wop Jukebox Gold. Thank you for your time and attention. Warm regards, Jack Josey.
Audiobag.com makes you sound good! Hear demos at www.audiobag.com

Hi... I'm listening in on Live365. Great stuff!! One thing though... You recently played Automobiles by the Spaniels and had it listed as being from 1981... I think you're 30 years off... I believe it was done in 1951. Thanks for the sounds...

|
Thanks for your inf-wop. In the book "Doo-wop, The forgotten third of Rock & Roll" by Tony Gribin & Matt Schiff it's Listed as being from the Charlie Label (LP 1021) of 1981 and at the AMG allmusic Guide I wasn't able to find an earlier issue.

What's your Name Dude? Thanks so much for playing the Platters "Voo Vi Ah Bee". Never heard it. Extra cool! Does that sound to you like the group that did "60 Minute
Man"? Which was 1st? Similar arrangements indeed. Great site once again. By the way some- times your station on live365 is different, today is #76, usually it's been 86. What's up with that? Alright! "Billy Boy went a walkin'" and "Up on the roof". More classics! Great stuff boss. Stay in touch. Peace. Jim Curran

Hi Jim, The song is originally called "Voo-Vee-Ah-Bee" and on album release "The Platters" of 1956. Quote AMG: - "It's their King Federal recording containing some of their finest pre-Mercury gospel-inspired ballads and jumps recorded between 1954 and 1956". - "60 Minute man" is probably older; Billy Ward the Dominoes wrote and recorded it. Quote AMG: - "The Dominoes, with Clyde McPhatter's (later a member of the Drifters) high tenor lead, had a startlingly fresh sound and enjoyed a number six R&B hit in early 1951 with one song from their first session, "Do Something for Me." It was in May of that year that the group broke through to the top of the R&B charts with "Sixty Minute Man," which also established them as one of the leading crossover acts between gospel and blues". The reason why my station is ranked higher now then some time ago is because "our star is rising" ! We are "recovering" from the XMas period when everybody seemed to listen to stations playing more xmas songs! However, when you search for Doo-wop at http://www.live365.com you will see that we are #1 for that genre. (and 2nd & 3d for 50's and 60's genre) (March-2-2003). If you are browsing through the pages to find our station there's no need to: you can find our station easily through our DWJBG page. Just bookmark it for easy access next time. Thanks for listening.

Papaumowmow: Well it was much simpler then..........but then we were the subject of the music. No prob..right? Thought I'd drop a line and say thanks for the music. Born in "47" the bubble gum music of the current sixties music is more of direct reflection on the folks in their late thirties early forty's. I'm happy for them but they have no clue to what doo wop and rock and roll really sounds like.
Thanks for letting me bend your ear.................Best regards,
Mike Hailey
