Boris Krancberg - LOVE THE DOO WOP
Thu, 2 Jan 2003 3:22 EST

I am in LOVE with your doo wop music ,,, you cannot imagine the pleasure that i derive,,, willing to do anything to be able to record and archive the music. please answer me back,,, i will try to contribute something thanks, Boris.

Hi Boris, if you go to http://www.allmusic.com you can search for the "DooWop" genre. There you will find lots of groups that you can select. Click on the "buy" button next to the albumtitles or go to CDNow. They sell DooWop albums also. If you want the original record with a copy on cd go to CDBBQ or you can try (although I'm not in favor of this because I would like the artists to get their fair share) to find it at one of the peer to peer download programs. We cannot issue playlists or cd's because of the rules at Live365. Sorry,
GM

Oliver Rafanan - do wop song
Thu, 2 Jan 2003 2:54 EST

Hi, I heard a song through live365 yesterday and it's driving me crazy trying to figure out whom it was by. The only verse I can recall is "remember the night" and the fact that they sung clips of other songs in it. I remember a part about "the DJ was playing...(earth angel? i think it was) Please help me. Any light shed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Oliver R.

Hi Oliver, Thank you for listening! The song you refer to is either "Remember the Night" by the Atlantics (1962) or "Memories Of El Monte" by the Penguins. They are classics and so are all the songs they are singing about. Each Doo-Wop fan should have them.
Interesting enough the Frank Zappa/Ray Collins - later The Mothers of Invention - penned "Memories of El Monte" was originally issued on Art Laboe's "Original Sound #27" in 1963 and wasn't sung by the Penguins at all. It's Penguins member Cleve Duncan backed by the Viceroys. If you go to Allmusic.com you can most certainly find out on what other albums it's on. Have fun.

I had recently emailed you concerning your playlist. There is 10 or so songs I am trying to locate--so could you advise as to where you get your titles(a dealer on the Web) or a source, and I understand completely if you need to maintain confidentiality. Thanks for any help, Steve

Try Thursday's Golden oldies or wegotrecords.com

Gene Williot - Good stuff!

I would like to commend you on your tribute and spotlight on the "Doo Wop" sounds on Live 365. My dad and I are DJ's in the Youngstown, Ohio area, and although we play a broad variety of oldies, we go heavy on the "Doo Wop", and always have. We get into alot of the Pittsburgh and Philly stuff, like "Oh My Angel", "High on a Hill", "Once Upon a Time", "The Bells are Ringing", etc... You just don't hear it anymore! Keep up the good work!
Frank Williott.

Just a note to let you know I am enjoying listening to the doo wop oldies. One of my favorite from the movie "Return to Macon County" is "Sittin in the Balcony" by Eddie Cochran. I would like to find some similar songs to that one. I am new at this, so please bear with me. As the songs play on your station, how does a person recognize the name of that particular song. Please let me know. Have a nice day. Pat Muse

Hi! Nice to hear from you! For getting info on the songs played we have a number of options:
If you listen to DooWop Jukebox Gold via a relay you might try going directly to my station at http://www.Live365.com. We are easy to find at their Listen page. Just search for DooWop and click the play button. If you choose and install the Live365 player when prompted you will see that it will have the full info for every song played and more. You will also get some pop-up adds however. Hi. Just wanted to let you know I enjoyed your doowop station. Although you should consider dropping to down to 33K. With live365 and having a dial up 56K modem the station breaks up to much to listen too. I can speak for others who I know use modem and have the same problem. Anyhow been listening for about a year (up to a few months ago since this problem occured). Love the fact you put dates near the songs. Regards Anthony

Steve Camarata - rarities

First of all, let me say that your music is excellent and it plays in my office constantly. Do you have a play list? Is it available? If not, the two songs I am trying to locate are as follows: "Chance" by the Sierras and "Leave her for me" by the Jades. I would appreciate your help. Thanks very much. Steve

Hi! Nice to hear from you! Thank you for listening in on DooWop Jukebox Gold. At Live365.com we are not allowed to hand out playlists other then the one that is scrolling at the player window and it changes so frequently that it would'nt really help you out. If you go to Allmusic.com you can search for the mentioned songs or artists and then click on the "buy" button next to the albumtitle. Or you can go to www.cdnow.com. If you want the original records with a copy on cd go to http://www.CDBBQ.com
Have fun! GM

Barry Rosen - A Question
Tue, 22 Oct 2002 12:53 EST

Hi, Enjoy your music which I stream daily from work. One of the songs you played was by the Boppers doing Rama Lama Ding Dong. What did you play it from, vinyl, CD, etc? Unfortunately, living in Los Angeles does not provide anything close to the stuff I grew up listening to when I was living on the east coast. So, it's a thrill for me to listen to the sounds you present on 365.com. Thanks,
