Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart wrote "Blue Moon" or "Prayer" for the 1934 movie "Hollywood Party" but neither the movie as the song was published at the time. In its second life the Prayer / Blue Moon tune was given a new lyric and became the title song of the 1934 MGM film Manhatian Melodrama. A judge has ordered PepsiCo Inc. and its advertising company to pay $250,000 to the 1950s doo-wop band The Flamingos for using their recording, "I Only Have Eyes For You" in a commercial without permission. Pepsi used the band's best known hit. |
